Classes Offered

Wee Ones: All future dancers will benefit from our Wee Ones program. In a "mommy and me" environment, students ages 18 months to three years will focus on rhythm and motor skills.

Combination and Trio classes: Thirty minutes each of Tap, Ballet, and Jazz. A great way for beginners or continuing students to get basics in each of the disciplines to prepare for future classes. A wonderful way to have a fun, positive, social experience while learning some new steps.

Mix Classes: Forty-five minutes each of Tap, Ballet, and Jazz. A way to continue to build on technique learned in our combo and trio classes and prepare for our Level I and further classes.

Ballet I-Advanced: Classical technical training focused on creating a solid foundation for the multi-disciplined dancer. Classes include Barre, center work (Petit Allegro, Adage, Turns), traveling floor work, and Grand Allegro.

Tap I-Advanced: Sonshine students enjoy the fun and rhythmic style of our tap classes. Influenced highly by the styles of Savion Glover, Gregory Hines, and other contemporary greats, our classes incorporate technical steps with fresh rhythms.

Jazz I-Advanced: Sonshine's jazz program is varied and eclectic. Students are taught steps ranging from all Broadway styles to contemporary pop and street jazz.

Hip-Hop: Time to get down and get funky! In our hip hop classes you are the music video star. Our high energy classes focus on fun, intricate choreography presented in a positive, age-appropriate environment. Hip-Hop classes are open to ages 9 and up.

Lyrical: Lyrical is a contemporary dance form based in ballet, jazz, and modern movement. Emphasis is placed on musicality and emotional quality. Lyrical is open to Level I and up.

Musical Theater: Calling all Broadway stars! Join our musical theater class to learn skills in show-style dancing. Musical theater classes incorporate jazz, tap, and acting skills to prepare for the spotlight.

Modern: Influenced by the styles of contemporary greats such as Graham, Horton, Dunham, Limon, and Cunningham. Modern incorporates basics of ballet into free form movement that focuses on strength and balance.

Technique and Conditioning: Get ready to get stronger! Our technique classes focus on barre work , center work, and across the floor to strengthen specific dance skills. Conditioning exercises for balance, strength, and endurance are also incorporated.

Piano and Voice: Private lessons in piano and voice are available. Lessons are given by Betty Salmon (Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor in Music Education, Evangel University)

Discounts and Plans

  • Per Class Discount: A discount of $5.00 per class, per month is applied to second and subsequent classes.
  • Student Plan: A student may take up to 6 classes for $190.00 per month. Additional classes are $25.00 each.
  • Unlimited Student Plan: A student may take unlimited classes for $235.00 per month.
  • Family Plan: Family members may take up to 8 classes for $235.00. Additional classes are $25.00 each.
  • Unlimited Family Plan: A family may take unlimited classes for $300.00 per month.

Registration and Recital Fees

  • Registration Fees: There is an annual, non-refundable fee of $35.00 per student, $25.00 for a second student, $15.00 for a third student, or $80.00 per family.
  • Christmas Show Fees: There is no student recital fee for the Christmas Show. Admission of $5.00 per adult and $2.00 per child under ten will be collected at the door.
  • Spring Recital Fees: Our excitin June Production recital(complete with set and storyline) fees are $45.00 per student and $25.00 for each additional student per family. Ticket, rehearsal, and performance information will be provided as we near recital time.

Costume Fees and Requirements

  • Christmas Leotard: Matching leotards are required for our students and must be ordered and paid for at the front desk by said dates. Additional information on cost and due dates will be provided as we near Christmas time.
  • Spring Leotard and Fees: This is a production recital year and each student is required to purchase their own costume.Additional information on cost and due dates will be provided as we near recital time.

Fee Policies

  • All of the following fee policies will be strictly enforced.
  • All class fees are due the first class of each month. You may bring your payment to the studio on the first class of the month or mail it to: 1329-C East Republic Road, Springfield, Missouri 65804.
  • After the 15th of the month there will be a $10.00 late fee added to your scheduled payment unless prior arrangements have been made.
  • Payments may be made with cash, check, Master Card, Visa, Debit, or Discover Card.
  • There will be a $10.00 service charge on all returned checks.
  • Your monthly fee will remain the same September - May (including December) regardless of holidays, sickness, inclement weather, or number of weeks in the month. Missed classes may be made up as stated in our class policy sheet.
  • Missed classes may not be deducted from the next month's tuition.
  • June tuition will be half of the regular monthly fee as classes run through June 13, 2008.
  • All class fees are non-refundable.
